Pre-Conference Practicum
Belt Fit for All Occupants
A conference highlight was the first-ever, pre-conference practicum, “Belt Fit for All Occupants“. This event offered attendees a dynamic, full-day exploration of seatbelt effectiveness and occupant protection strategies. Through expert-led presentations and interactive breakout sessions, participants examined key topics including crash statistics, occupant modeling, submarining and belt routing, and the role of adaptive restraints and emerging occupant sensing technologies. The event featured engaging discussions led by experts from IIHS, the University of Michigan, Nagoya University, Autoliv, and others. Attendees also enjoyed a hands-on Waymo self-driving vehicle experience, and the day concluded with the Stapp Welcome Reception, sponsored by our university partners, providing an opportunity for networking and connection ahead of the conference.
