The Stapp Association was founded in April of 1999 in honor of John Paul Stapp, MD, Colonel USAF, whose pioneering research in human tolerance to high-g environments and the development of protective systems for ejection from high-speed aircraft and occupant restraint in motor-vehicle crashes, provided the impetus for the first Stapp Car Crash Conference and field demonstration, held in May 1955. Since that time, the Stapp Association has worked rigorously to support the advancement and dissemination of knowledge regarding trauma biomechanics in military, aviation and automotive environments, including the development of improved occupant protection systems and injury assessment tools, to the broader scientific community.
Stapp Car Crash Conference
The Stapp Car Crash Conference is the premier forum for presentation of research and developments in impact biomechanics, human injury tolerance, and related fields that advance the knowledge of land-vehicle crash injury protection.
Stapp Car Crash Journal
Publications from the Stapp Car Crash Journal provide a historical record of the progress in the field of impact biomechanics and the continued advancement of new research and development activities as supported by investigators across the globe.
Stapp Association Advisory Committee
The Stapp Association Advisory Committee is comprised of impact biomechanics researcher experts working in academics, industry and government around the world.
Founding the Stapp Association
The Stapp Association was founded in honor of John Paul Stapp, MD, PhD, Colonel in the US Air Force, and pioneer of impact biomechanics testing in automotive and aviation environments.
